A box, some stone? He also knew he should take care for burning things he had a flair.Suddenly there came a rumble as a candle took a tumble. It rolled across the wooden floor, right past Brynley to the door. The flame ran to a hiding place and disappeared without trace. Finally he peered out. What was that awful noise about? There he saw a pale taper, reeling from its scary caper. The candle lay there feeling queasy, getting up might not be easy.Brynley saw the creature’s plight and rushed to give him extra light.“Are you hurting from your fall?” he enquired, so quiet and small.“Yes, a little,” said the candle, feeling round to find a handle. Then came the words “Do you have a name?” from the helpful little flame.“I don’t know why you need to know, but I am Wicks, so there you go.“But who are you?” asked battered Wicksy, “a little elf, an evil pixie?”“I am Brynley, a little flame, if you want to know my name.”Wicksy struggled to his feet, checking he was still complete.“I must return to the big table, if of course I am still able.”“But I doubt I’ll reach that high,” he added with a little sigh.
